The Rankings Are In!

As the month comes to an end, it’s time to rank the books I read. Coming in at number five for the month is “The Field Guide” by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. Four is “Extinction” by Douglas Preston. Three is “The Seeing Stone” by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. Two, “Do Unto Animals: A Friendly Guide to How Animals Live, and How We Can Make Their Lives Better” by Tracey Stewart. Drum roll, please!… My number one book for this month is “A Merry Little Meet Cute” by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone!

I’m not too surprised that “A Merry Little Meet Cute” ended up at the top, considering it was the book I was most looking forward to at the start of this month. What can I say? I know what I like. I am surprised that “Extinction” didn’t end up at the bottom, but, honestly, that just goes to show how disappointed I was with “The Field Guide”. I can’t overstate how much better I feel the first and second books of The Spiderwick Chronicles could have been! Easily the biggest story disappointment I’ve had in a while. I might read the rest of the series, but I certainly don’t have high hopes.

Reviews for books two through five have already been posted. Please check those out if you want to know more about my thoughts and why I ranked them the way I did! My review for book number one, “A Merry Little Meet Cute”, will be posted on 1/3/2025, so stay tuned for that.

Oh, but wait! We’re also coming up on the end of the year! Which means I’ll be dedicating a separate post for all the books I’ve read in 2024. Be on the lookout for that later today. And I hope you all have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve!
