Dragons, Grisha, Cremations… Oh, My! It’s My January TBR List

A new year means a new reading goal! For 2025, I am planning to read a total of 75 books! Here are the books on this moth’s to-be-read list to help get me started on that:

  • “The Priory of the Orange Tree” by Samantha Shannon
  • “Fourth Wing” by Rebecca Yarros
  • “King of Scars” by Leigh Bardugo
  • “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and Other Lessons from the Crematory” by Caitlin Doughty
  • “Stella by Starlight” by Sharon M. Draper
  • “Absolution” by Jeff VanderMeer

I am easily the most excited for “King of Scars”. I have loved every other entry in the GrishaVerse thus far. Leigh Bardugo continues to impress me with her amazing writing and story-telling. I’m most apprehensive about “Fourth Wing”. A relative lent this book to me almost a year ago, believing I would like it. However, a number of friends have expressed their own dislike for the book. I plan to give it a fair chance and we’ll see how it goes. I’m excited for Smoke as I deeply enjoy Caitlin Doughty’s YouTube channel and know her life experiences will make for a fun read. Stella, I’m expecting, will make me cry, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I am also a little apprehensive of “Absolution”. Having read quite a few of Jeff VanderMeer’s work, I feel confident I will enjoy whatever world he plunges me into. The problem with VanderMeer has never been his world building though. His story-telling on the other hand…

Let me know with a comment if any of these books made it onto your list for the month or year. If you want to keep up with my reading progress, you can follow me on my Instagram or Goodreads!
